A group of 14 students dedicated to their educational goals have received financial support to further their academic ambitions thanks to fundholders of the Community Foundation for Brevard. These students are recipients of $72,962 in academic scholarships to assist with college tuition, books, fees, and the cost of attendance.

Established by generous fundholders passionate about helping students obtain higher education, the scholarships are awarded annually to students in different industries including science and technology, education, nursing, veterinary nursing, communications, business, and medical-related fields.

“The visionary people who created these scholarships have changed lives and made dreams come true, year after year,” said Community Foundation President and CEO, Theresa Grimison. “Truly, they are helping develop leaders who will shape our future and their philanthropy is building a community where everyone can thrive.”

Awards are determined by a dedicated group of community volunteers who review applications and conduct interviews with selected students. Scholarships are awarded from the following funds:

Eastern Florida State College:

  • Ashleen Caino, Radiography
  • Jacquelyn Chalona, Nursing
  • Blakely Duke, Nursing
  • Danielle Dunne, Veterinary nursing
  • Elizabeth Eskildsen, Business management
  • Alicia Harris, Radiography
  • Latisha Littles, Nursing
  • Juliana Montemayor, Nursing
  • Kiersten Stewart, Nursing

Florida A&M University:

  • Gerard Thomas, Psychology

Florida State University:

  • Morgan Bentley, Biological sciences with a minor in chemistry and psychology

Savannah College of Art and Design:

  • Megan Knick, Film and television

University of Central Florida:

  • Paige Syring, Sports nutrition

University of South Florida:

  • Keliyah Brothers, Secondary social science education

“Thank you so much to the Community Foundation for Brevard for the generous scholarship,” said Elizabeth Eskildsen, scholarship recipient. “This award will open up new avenues and help offset the costs of achieving my bachelor’s degree at Eastern Florida State College.”
