$71,364 in Scholarships from Community Foundation for Brevard Strengthens Futures of Eight Local Students

Thanks to the Community Foundation for Brevard fundholders, eight students dedicated to their educational goals have received financial support to further their academic ambitions. These students are recipients of a combined $71,364 in academic scholarships to assist with college tuition, books, fees, and the cost of attendance.

Established by generous fundholders passionate about helping students obtain higher education, the scholarships are awarded annually to students in various fields, including science and technology, veterinary nursing, communications, business, and medical-related fields.

“The visionary people who created and support these scholarships are building a legacy of leaders,” said Theresa Grimison, President and CEO, Community Foundation for Brevard. “This is an investment not only in the individual benefits of higher education but also in a vibrant, strong, inclusive future for our community.”

A dedicated group of community volunteers reviews applications and interviews selected students to determine awards. The following scholarships support these students’ educational pursuits:

Bethune Cookman:

Eastern Florida State College:

  • Gracie Ghawi, Veterinary Nursing

University of Central Florida:

  • Tiana Hinds, Communication Sciences and Disorders
  • Josephine Mendola, Psychology

University of South Florida:

  • Cailayla Scott, Business and Accounting

University of West Florida:

  • Faith Sanchez, Exercise Science

“This scholarship award will, no doubt, alleviate the immense stress I had surrounding the finances associated with pursuing my Bachelor’s at UCF,” said Tiana Hinds. “I sincerely mean it when I say that I am immensely thankful for this opportunity. You’ve shaped my life for the better, and I will pay it forward through my work.”
