2026 Medical Research Priorities

The program’s 2026 priority is Alzheimer’s disease with the following equally important areas of focus:

  • Social/behavioral interventions- Solving daily life issues experienced by Alzheimer’s disease patients from diagnosis and beyond
  • Social/behavioral interventions- Delivery of care in support of family caregivers
  • Public health education and awareness- Prevention, screening, or treatment for Alzheimer’s disease, particularly among populations with limited access to health care or lower participation in Alzheimer’s disease related services and research
  • Clinical education/evidence-based guidance – For healthcare professionals for all stages of Alzheimer’s disease care

PREFERENCES
Preference is given to requests that align with one or more of the following areas in the Florida Health Ed and Ethel Moore Alzheimer’s Disease Research Program, FOA FY 2025-2026:

  • Focus Area 3.1.1. Behavioral
  • Focus Area 3.1.2 Social
  • Focus Area 3.1.6 Palliative and End-of-Life Care
  • Focus Area 3.1.7 Advance Care Planning
  • Focus Area 3.1.8 Multimorbidity
  • Focus Area 3.1.9 Palliative
  • Focus Area  3.2.3 Understanding Co-Morbidities and Other Factors that Contribute to the Progression of AD

At least one (1) award up to $119,000.00 is expected to be available for the 2026 cycle.

PLEASE NOTE: The Community Foundation is not currently funding basic/bench science research projects.

AWARD PERIOD: Researchers will have eighteen (18) months to complete their research project.
