Investing in Brevard’s Art Teachers: Rick & Nancy Dillen

Nancy and Rick believe that if you can dream it, you can do it. They partnered with the Foundation as a connector to bring their ideas to life. That’s how they launched the Nancy Baur Dillen Art Teacher Scholarship, a broadening and enriching opportunity for local art educators to share, develop and grow – both as artists and as teachers, to better influence and inspire the skills, creativity, and techniques of budding young artists.

Annually, the scholarship provides funding for up to five Brevard County Public School art teachers. The fund covers tuition, fees, and room and board for a one-week workshop of each teacher’s choice at the renowned Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts in Gatlinburg, Tennessee.

The summers I spent at Arrowmont had a huge influence on my development as an artist and teacher. To hear the stories and see first-hand the impact it is making on those who have been awarded the scholarship is a dream come true,” said Nancy Baur Dillen. “Rick and I feel fortunate to have the ability to support and inspire art educators, and through them, their students – they are our future.
